At the current time, the Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle is decent gold. You can get ~150 gifts every 30 minutes (300 gifts an hour) which sells at 7s each. After TP taxes, this is ~18g an hour. You also get 3 personalised gifts every 15 completions, which give you stuff you can sell for a bit extra. Bell choir is slightly slower, at 18 gifts
It’s an insane grind to get the rewards for this festival (Halloween as well). 10-15 snow diamonds for most rewards and I can barely grind out a couple per week doing all the dailies. That’s 10-15k snowflakes per reward, and it’s a struggle to break 1k snowflakes per day just doing the whole daily set (which is not a speedy process).

Posted January 26, 2020. No point in doing spending ectos to max it unless you need the essences anyway. You are correct, its a subtle effect and not worth pursuing specifically. Just consume your luck from salvaging drops as you get them. It is worth boosting during Halloween and Lunar New Year, otherwise don't worry about it.
There are other ways of getting a lot of gold. But, they're all higher level stuff. Several fan favorites include: (1)Silverwastes. Get a bunch of keys and shovels from doing the events, then join on a shovel train and just get a bunch of loot bags. (2)Heart of Thorns map metas.
Dolmen grinding is an easy way to farm experience but not the fastest by far. The fastest way is mob-grinding, best combined with popping your scroll at the end of your daily and handing in some precrafted master writs (and maybe other quests). It’s also not the fastest way to make gold, but again an easy one for beginners.
